ULD Supervisor
Purpose
The ULD Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the control, handling, storage, tracking and maintenance coordination of Unit Load Devices (ULDs) to ensure safe, efficient and compliant aircraft and cargo operations. The role involves supervising staff, maintaining accurate records and coordinating with internal departments and external partners.
Ensure that all quality, safety and security occurrences, errors, hazards and near misses are reported through the established reporting system. Ensure hazards and risks are identified, assessed, escalated to higher management (as applicable) and mitigated or eliminated.
Accountabilities
- Supervise daily ULD operations, including receipt, dispatch, storage, and inventory control
- Ensure proper handling and safe use of ULDs in compliance with IATA, airline and regulatory standards
- Monitor ULD movements and maintain accurate tracking records
- ULD Yard management, as required to maintain standards
- Conduct regular ULD inspections and report damages for repair or removal from service
- Coordinate ULD repairs and maintenance with approved vendors or maintenance teams
- Train and guide staff on correct ULD handling procedures and safety practices
- Investigate ULD loss, damage, or shortages and implement corrective actions
- Prepare operational reports, audits, and inventory summaries
- Liaise with cargo, ramp, warehouse, and operations teams to support on-time departures
- Ensure compliance with safety, security, and quality standards at all times
- Coordinate with finance and billing teams to ensure accurate and timely charging of ULD-related services
- Coordinate with Airlines’ ULD Management team
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (aviation/logistics certification preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in ULD, cargo or ground handling operations
- Strong knowledge of ULD types, ownership rules, interchange agreements and charging principles
- Experience with ULD tracking systems and basic cost or billing documentation
- Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
- Good communication and reporting skills, including interaction with airline representatives
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, shift-based airport environment
- Basic computer skills (inventory systems, spreadsheets, reporting tools)
