Payroll Analyst (Manager)

Job Purpose :

The Payroll & Finance Master Data (FMD) Manager is responsible for ensuring accurate payroll accounting, reconciliation, and reporting while maintaining the integrity and governance of finance master data. The role acts as a key coordination point across Finance, HR, Payroll, and IT to resolve issues, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and deliver audit-ready outputs.


Key Accountabilities

  • Validate monthly and off-cycle payroll outputs, ensuring accurate reconciliation and timely posting.
  • Analyze payroll components (salaries, overtime, benefits, deductions) to confirm accuracy and financial impact.
  • Prepare and review payroll accounting entries including accruals, provisions, and adjustments.
  • Maintain payroll reconciliations, schedules, and audit-ready documentation.  
  • Oversee finance master data (cost centres, GL, vendor, bank, employee data) creation and governance.
  • Ensure master data standards, controls, and change management processes are enforced.
  • Support audits through reconciliations, evidence packs, and compliance documentation.
  • Monitor system integrations and data accuracy across SAP payroll and finance platforms.
  • Prepare payroll-related financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and lead issue resolution across Finance, HR, and IT.
  • Guide and review team outputs while supporting capability development and delivery timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting or related field; professional qualification (CA/ACCA/CMA/CPA) preferred.
  • 8–12 years’ experience in accounting, payroll finance, or GL roles in complex/multi-entity environments.
  • Strong experience in payroll accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and employee liabilities.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP ECC / SAP S/4HANA / SAP ECP or similar systems.
  • Experience in manpower-intensive industries (aviation/logistics preferred) with high payroll volumes.
