GSE Technician - Fabricator

Purpose 

To perform fabrication, welding, and structural repair of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and related components to ensure operational safety, reliability, and compliance with aviation standards. The role supports workshop operations by executing high-quality welding and metalwork activities across maintenance, repair, and fabrication projects.
This position contributes directly to maintaining equipment readiness essential for safe and efficient aircraft ground handling operations.

Accountabilities 

• Perform welding, fabrication, and structural repairs on GSE components using Gas, Electric Arc, and MIG welding techniques
• Prepare and execute fabrication work by interpreting layouts, marking cutting/bending lines, and selecting appropriate methods
• Operate workshop machinery including fabrication and machining equipment (e.g., shears, drill presses, rollers)
• Assemble, align, and weld metal parts to required specifications and quality standards
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with safety, technical, and manufacturer requirements
• Support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities within the GSE workshop
• Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental procedures while maintaining a clean and organized work area

Education & Experience

• Secondary education (12 years) with a recognized technical certification in welding or fabrication
• Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in welding and metal fabrication, preferably in aviation, automotive, or heavy equipment workshop environments
• Proven experience working with multiple welding methods including Gas, Arc, and MIG welding.
