Baggage Supervisor

Responsible to establish and maintain a culture that has quality, safety and security as an intrinsic part of the operations. Ensure that all quality, safety and security occurrences, errors, hazards, near misses are reported through the established reporting system. Ensure hazards and risks are identified, assessed, escalated to higher management (as applicable) and mitigated or eliminated.

 

Accountabilities

 

  • Demonstrates ability to lead a team and is proactive in approach to maximize resource and gain efficiency in a live operational environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that staff are provided with required quality, safety, security and operational information
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture through coaching and guidance to personnel to ensure safe outcomes.
  • Plan and oversee effective housekeeping on the ramp, in baggage halls and ULD areas as allocated; identify and report defective/unserviceable equipment and arrange to move such defective EAS equipment to workshop.
  • Ensure operational KPIs and desired safety and security outcomes are achieved for allocated flights.
  • Ensure safe handling of dangerous goods in compliance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations; appropriate and expeditious handling of special loads to include but not limited to valuables, live animals, pharmaceuticals and healthcare products and meat shipments to maintain product integrity.
  • Plan and coordinate ULD activity with Baggage Halls, ULD Yard, BCC and Cargo as required
  • Responsible for immediately reporting to the pilot-in-command any safety or security concern or occurrence associated with his flight
  • Reports all hazards and occurrences as per Etihad procedures; participate in investigation of occurrences, incidents and conduct of risk assessments as required
  • Responsible to ensure he/she and the ramp teams comply with all procedures, regulations and guidelines published by Etihad, the customer airline and ADAC.
  • Perform any other task or assignment as instructed by the shift management.

 

Education & Experience

 

  • Must have a high school graduation or equivalent
  • At least 2 years working in an Airside environment
  • Must be trained on Airside Safety and Security Awareness
  • Must be trained on Supervising Aircraft Handing
  • Must be trained on handling Airside Equipment such as ULD, dolly, trolley and in the use of other appropriate equipment
  • Have a good understanding of load control concepts and principles
